Varun Tej is gearing up to treat audiences with the supernatural comedy Korean Kanakaraju, directed by Merlapaka Gandhi. Produced by UV Creations with a massive budget, the film is scheduled for a grand worldwide release on August 7. The promotional content, including the teaser, trailer and two chartbuster tracks composed by Thaman, has already generated strong buzz among audiences.
The movie’s intriguing premise blends Anantapur’s local flavor with Korean culture, inspired by the director’s personal observation near the Kia factory. Elaborating on the central idea, Merlapaka Gandhi shared, “I saw a distinct Korean community living in Anantapur with their own markets and culture. It made me think about how funny it would be if a Korean spirit possessed an Anantapur local boy, and the natural comedy that would arise from that situation.”
To pull off the dual-shaded character, Varun Tej underwent thorough preparation to master both the Anantapur dialect and the Korean language. “Varun Tej is someone who always loves attempting new concepts, and his physique fits this character perfectly,” Gandhi noted. He added that dedicated language tutors were brought in to train the lead cast, ensuring complete authenticity on screen without confusing the audience.
Alongside the central lead, the narrative features a strong ensemble cast including Satya, Muralidhar Goud, and Sunil to keep the laughter constant. Expressing complete confidence in the final outcome, the director stated, “The variations in the main character will completely surprise the viewers. We took extreme care with every detail to make sure this delivers non-stop entertainment and turns out to be a solid hit.”
