Baahubali 2 was always going to be the biggest movie at the start of the year with 2.0 being the only possible competitor. Apart from those two, there was one ‘special’ film, and that is Spyder.

More than Baahubali 2, the Superstar Mahesh Babu starrer movie is an important film for the trade in Telugu cinema. It is a true-blue bi-lingual without any Baahubalian scale of investment. It is certainly big but not to the extent of the Mega budget films Baahubali and Enthiran. It just means the model can be emulated by other top Telugu heroes.
A Spyder will show how keen are other language audience for movies featuring Telugu stars in a regular commercial set up. The opposite has been a regular occurrence in Telugu cinema from the nineties. But Telugu film has failed to develop similar success stories outside of epic movies.
