Ramoji Rao is the undisputable Raja Guru of Telugu Politics. Except for Jagan’s rule, Ramoji Rao was always the center of Politics in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Even when YSR positioned against Ramoji, he used to have his say in the Central Government.
Jagan tried dismantling Ramoji Rao’s empire and tried to arrest him in the Margadarshi case. But the subscribers did not allow that to happen and the firm stood like a rock even during the crisis. Ramoji Rao passed away but not before playing a crucial part in defeating Jagan in the recent elections.
It looks like there is a race between ABN RK and TV5’s BR Naidu to become the Raja Guru like Ramoji Rao.
Both of them are close to Chandrababu Naidu but are now trying to put pressure to accept one of them like Supreme.
BR Naidu expected the TTD Chairman post. Naidu was initially okay but things changed after the Laddu controversy. Naidu was skeptical about appointing a Media Baron which will invite unnecessary criticism.
So, the announcement was kept on hold. There has been a sudden change in the attitude of TV5 since then. The Channel is slowly taking an anti-Government stance.
And then, there is ABN RK. Despite the image that Andhrajyothy and ABN are Pro-TDP, RK is always unstable and we never know when the canon will hit TDP.
ABN is also taking the same stance as TV5 in the last month or so.
There are rumors in the media circles that they want to be the Raja Guru like Ramoji Rao. But then, Chandrababu Naidu is not yielding. So, they are trying to flex their muscle using their Media houses.
Ramoji Rao dictated Telugu Politics with a Powerful Media house like Eenadu.
The Newspaper used to be a game-changer and a big influencer of Public opinion and that made Ramoji Rao so powerful. Also, the #2 back then used to be much behind Eenadu.
But this is not the case with ABN and TV5. They are the biggest supporters of TDP but when it comes to influencing Public opinion, they lag behind.
While TV9 and NTV are market leaders, TV5 and ABN are in four and six positions usually.
TV5 and ABN should be at the top of the ladder and only then, BR Naidu and RK can dictate the game like Ramoji Rao.
Until then, they will play an important role but can not enjoy absolute power like Ramoji Rao.
