AP Clears 4,196 Acres for Private Industrial Parks

Securing land for new factories is often a major hurdle for any state trying to attract big investments. To solve this, the Andhra Pradesh government is rolling out a new strategy by teaming up with private landowners to build industrial parks across the state.

Instead of taking the long route of acquiring land directly, the government introduced the AP Private Industrial Parks and Plug & Play Industrial Infrastructure Policy. Under this plan, the state cleared proposals for eight private firms to establish industrial parks spanning over 4,196 acres. Together, these companies will invest around ₹1,720 crore just to develop the required basic infrastructure.

This move comes because the state needs a massive land bank to fulfill its business agreements. Right now, the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) has only about 40,000 acres in hand. While some government land is still available in the Rayalaseema and Uttarandhra regions, finding space for industries in the booming coastal districts has become extremely difficult.

By encouraging private individuals and companies to develop their large land parcels, ranging from 10 to 1,000 acres, into developed industrial zones, the government hopes to make land instantly available for incoming companies. Official estimates show that the state ultimately needs at least 3.5 lakh acres to support its committed projects, which includes a massive 2.5 lakh acres dedicated purely to upcoming renewable energy plants in Rayalaseema.
