Andhra Pradesh is preparing for a major expansion in aviation infrastructure in 2026. The announcement was made by Union Civil Aviation Minister Rammohannaidu at the Telugu Diaspora event during the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2026 held in Davos.
New passenger terminals are set to open at Vijayawada, Rajahmundry and Kakinada in 2026. At the same time, Bhogapuram Airport is nearing completion. These projects aim to significantly improve air travel facilities across the state.
The Minister said the new terminal at Vijayawada, Gannavaram is progressing rapidly and will be ready by 2026. Modern terminals at Rajahmundry and Kakinada, developed under the UDAN and RCS schemes, will open this year to boost regional connectivity.
Rammohannaidu also stated that efforts are underway to introduce direct international flights from Andhra Pradesh. Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Bhogapuram have been identified as priority hubs to strengthen global air links from the state.
Andhra Pradesh secured 25 percent of India’s total investments in 2025. Several projects are now moving into execution stages, signalling rapid economic growth. Chandrababu Naidu is also encouraging Telugu NRIs worldwide to participate in the state’s development.
With rising investments and global engagement, international connectivity has become essential. As a result, the focus remains on modernising existing airports and adding new ones to improve accessibility and reduce travel time across Andhra Pradesh.
