In a major relief to citizens, the Andhra Pradesh government has sanctioned Rs 1,000 crore for road repairs across the state.
The funds will be used to restore 274 damaged roads, according to orders issued by the Special Chief Secretary. Out of the total amount, Rs 400 crore will go toward 108 state highways, while Rs 600 crore is earmarked for 166 state roads.
Continuous rains had badly damaged several roads, leaving commuters struggling with potholes and washed-out stretches. Responding to the situation, the government moved quickly to release funds and begin repairs.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said the condition of roads had worsened due to the negligence of the previous government. He noted that traditional road construction methods were both costly and poor in quality, stressing that regular maintenance is essential to ensure lasting infrastructure.
