A 55-year-Old woman named Vinoda from Mahabubabad district, hanged herself with the depression of losing 54 lakhs that she had earned by selling their 12 acres of land. The money was arranged for the marriage of woman’s daughter. Son of Vinoda says that his parents had a fight last night after the news of 500 and 1000 rupees notes banned from midnight and Vinoda was heartbroken not knowing the fact that the cash can be exchanged or deposited in the bank.
This isn’t the only incident, another woman from Uttar Pradesh died of shock with a passbook and two 1000 rupees notes lying near her body. In addition, a father lost his daughter in the process of taking his daughter to the hospital. He wasn’t able to pay for the petrol with the notes he had. Due to delay in reaching the hospital, the poor girl died.
Most of these incidents happened due to lack of awareness about the exchange of money for which government needs to take required measures immediately to avoid such mishap. Further, the sudden ban has actually affected the people in various aspects, especially for the ones who were in medical need.
