AP CM Chandrababu met with his Cabinet to discuss various vital issues regarding the state. The most interesting bit was the announcement regarding the local body elections.
Chandrababu asked his Cabinet colleagues to get prepared for the polls. We must go ahead with the objective of winning all elections, said Babu.
Despite water issues and current LPG crisis due to West Asia crisis, Chandrababu was optimistic that the problems will be resolved keeping the best interests of AP citizens in mind.
The terms of most rural and urban bodies will end in April. Chandrababu is already preparing his team to sweep the polls by coming up with clear-cut election strategies.
The Ministers are expected to work at the ground level, tour their constituencies and spread awareness regarding the welfare and development schemes taken up by the government.
The last MPTC, ZPTC and municipal elections were held in 2021. While their tenure is for 5 years, their term will end by March-April 2026.
AP citizens are happy with the double-engine government of Andhra Pradesh. In Pulivendula, once a stronghold of YSR family, TDP won the ZPTC polls in 2025. This showed that TDP is in a position to break through old power bastions. The rest of the state could be a cake walk for the ruling party.
Of course, there is the issue of seat sharing with its allies. That will be decided by the ruling party in the coming days.
The announcement has brought joy to many small and mid-level leaders in the alliance parties as it means filling up of several local seats.
