AP CM Chandrababu Naidu was in Delhi on Wednesday and discussed various issues with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Ministers Nirmala Seetaraman and Nitish Gadkari. He spoke to media about the discussions at his official residence, 1 Janpath.
Babu requested Amit Shah to give the go ahead for Prevention of Land Grabbing Act. In the past 5 years, land grabbing had become a major issue in Andhra Pradesh said Babu.
Of 10 complaints, 6 are regarding land grabbing, he went on to say. As there were no checks and balances due to computerization, the land grabbers and officials conspired together to put private lands under prohibited lands. When the victims wanted to sell their lands at any cost, they removed them from prohibited list and took over lands, shared Babu.
Much land was also occupied in the name of house pattas. Forest and Banjara lands were also taken away, he rued. To address such issues, we have passed the AP Land Grabbing Prohibition Bill in the state Assembly, revealed Babu.
Babu requested that the Center approve it and requested Home Minister Amit Shah to push for it to be passed quickly.
To prevent bootleggers, drug offenders, dacoits, goondas, immoral trafficking, we have requested to use PD Act. During the past government drugs became a big problem. Through Eagle, we are fighting the drug war. Our government is trying to stop the drug menace by destroying the plants. If the Bill is passed, then we can weed out drug issue, said Babu.
I also discussed the financial situation in the state. The past government had left us with Rs 10 lakh crore debt. Due to this we are in no position to get loans. People have placed faith in us and voted for us with a huge majority in Assembly and Legislature Council. We are trying to put the state back on development path. Last year, we had a growth rate of 12.94%, this year we are aiming at 15%, shared Babu.
We asked Finance Minister Nirmala Seetaraman for support to the Godavari-Banakacherla project. It will reduce drought issues by bringing in water from Vamsadhara, Nagavali, Godavari, Krishna and Penna. Babu said taking waters at Rajamahendravaram before they enter the sea is the project’s aim.
We are planning to spend Rs 5 crore on Polavaram project. The first phase will be completed in two years. In the second phase, we will complete 47.72 mts, Babu said.
We requested for multiple national highways from Nitish Gadkari. We requested for speedy completion of Vijayawada East Bypass road. We also discussed about 140 Mt wide and 189 km outer ring road in Amaravati.
Due to traffic issues in Srisailam, we requested for an elevated corridor or widening of roads. The Minister gave his approval for the same, shared Babu.
We requested for Amaravati-Vinukonda, Vizag-Mulapeta highways to be completed soon. The Minister updated that tenders will be called soon, told Babu.
Chandrababu also said that they requested for a greenfield expressway from Hyderabad to Bandar.
