Cyberabad police have reported a sharp rise in child pornography cases in Telangana. According to cyber crime data, such cases increased from just four in 2024 to 53 in 2025. This marks an alarming jump of nearly 1200 percent.
Officials say this is the highest rise among all cyber crime offences. Phishing cases have increased by 330 percent, while unauthorised financial transactions rose by 149 percent. The data highlights a worrying trend in online crimes.
Child pornography is a serious crime worldwide and any related content shared on social media is punishable under law. The rise is especially disturbing as incidents of child molestation and sexual assault are also increasing. Both girls and boys are being targeted.
Experts point out that despite awareness campaigns, easy access to sexual content on OTT platforms has worsened the situation. The widespread availability of explicit material is believed to be influencing criminal behaviour.
While adult pornography itself is a separate issue, child pornography is strictly illegal. Increased consumption fuels human trafficking and abuse of minors across the world. Such content directly violates the basic rights and safety of children.
