The Texas school kids massacre on May 24th is something that is going to haunt the world forever. Nineteen innocent children and two teachers were shot dead by a 19-year-old maniac for no fault of theirs.
This has created fear among the students and others who want to migrate to America to pursue their higher education or build a future for themselves.
Now a California teacher has asked the foreign exchange students not to come to America. America isn’t safe anymore. She says the American government can’t save its people.
Many come to America to learn English, to live near the bustling cities of Chicago or New York or the sunny beaches of California. The openness and newness of the American culture, the desire to live in the country of Hollywood, Disneyland, Harvard, and UCLA, prom queens and kings, and football games.
But she says coming to America isn’t worthy anymore as the schools have been sacrificed at the altar of guns. The grocery stores, bars, and concert halls aren’t safe anymore. The Americans have chosen to protect the right to bear arms over all else, even over the most precious and innocent amongst us, the children.
If you want to learn English, pick the UK, Canada, or Australia. These countries launched decisive actions like banning assault arms, requiring background checks and a waiting period to buy weapons, and instituting gun amnesty programs. There have been few to no mass shootings for long.
On the other hand, the U.S. has had more mass shootings than any other country; since 2009, there have been 274 horrific mass shootings in America. The citizens can’t even sue the firearm companies for their deadly contribution to mass shootings.
The Americans are urging the government to change arm requisition laws, but the government is turning a deaf ear to them.
