Minister Nara Lokesh announced major investment updates for Visakhapatnam while laying the foundation for the first AI Edge Data Center and Open Cable Landing Station. He said the state aims to create 20 lakh jobs under the “Super Six” mission, with 5 lakh of them in Visakhapatnam alone.
Lokesh revealed that top leadership from Google will visit Delhi this week for a major partnership announcement. He added that TCS has completed its interior work and will begin operations in November. Land has already been allocated, and the groundbreaking ceremony will follow soon.
He further confirmed that Cognizant’s CEO will visit Visakhapatnam in November to launch a new project, with the company’s Development Center expected to start operations in December. Lokesh also mentioned that India’s largest steel plant and the country’s biggest single FDI investment will soon come up in Greater Visakhapatnam.
“These are concrete steps. Not even 10% of such progress happened under the previous government, even though they declared Visakhapatnam as the Executive Capital,” Lokesh said.
He added that three more major investment announcements will be made within the next three months. Emphasizing his vision, Lokesh said no investment should leave Andhra Pradesh due to administrative or political errors. “We are working to make Visakhapatnam the capital of Global Capability Centers (GCCs),” he said.
Lokesh assured that Visakhapatnam would reach the development level of Hyderabad within a decade. “If it took Hyderabad 30 years, Visakhapatnam will take only ten. Andhra Pradesh is the right destination for industries. Visakhapatnam will become a trillion-dollar economy by 2047,” he said.
He also clarified that Amaravati will remain the only capital of Andhra Pradesh, but development will be decentralized across regions. “We are confident of rewriting history with investments worth $120 billion, half of which will come to Visakhapatnam,” Lokesh concluded.
