NDA has formed the Government again in Bihar, while RJD, which hoped to return to power at any cost, ended up with only 25 seats in the 243-member Assembly. The setback shocked its cadre, especially after months of aggressive campaigning.
Tejashwi Yadav, the RJD Leader and Mahagatbandhan’s CM Candidate, trailed through several rounds. He managed to escape defeat only at the final stage, which added to the tense atmosphere around the result.
It has been twenty years since RJD lost power, yet the party still struggles to return because people remember the horrific rule under Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi. Those years were widely called Jungle Raj across Bihar.
Parents used to send their children to Boarding Schools to avoid kidnaps. Corruption, encroachments and fear ruled the State. People believe the Government then encouraged this environment, and those memories still push voters away from RJD.
Social media users have now started drawing parallels between RJD and YSR Congress. They say both parties ran Rowdy Raaj when they were in power. They add that both depend on strong caste vote banks that stay loyal no matter what, and that such parties struggle to attract wider support.
Bihar today has a strong combination in JDU and BJP, which kept Lalu Prasad Yadav’s party out of power for two decades. While Lalu Prasad Yadav faced legal trouble due to corruption cases, Jagan Mohan Reddy has so far managed to escape conviction.
In Andhra Pradesh, the TDP–Janasena alliance supported by BJP followed a similar approach. The result was a stunning 164/175 victory in the 2024 election, powered by social engineering that brought the Kamma and Kapu vote banks together.
The real test for the alliance will come when Chandrababu Naidu steps aside and names Lokesh as his successor. If the alliance stays intact even after that, it will become even harder for YSR Congress to regain ground.
