Kavitha’s Suspension Kills BRS Local Poll Hopes?

KCR and BRS party face setbacks before polls

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) was banking on the upcoming local body elections in September to make a political comeback. After failing to secure even a single seat in the recent Parliamentary elections, KCR hoped that his party could dominate the grassroots level.

However, recent developments might seriously affect those chances. One major concern is the growing spotlight on the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project. The entry of the CBI into the investigation has added national attention and created unease within the party.

Adding to the trouble is the suspension of MLC Kavitha from BRS. Her exit not only created internal cracks but also led to serious allegations against Harish Rao and Santosh Rao regarding the Kaleshwaram project.

Reports suggest that Kavitha might float a new political party, possibly reviving the original name TRS. This could confuse or even divide the voter base, especially since rural Telangana still connects deeply with the TRS brand.

Meanwhile, the ruling Congress is attacking BRS on corruption charges. The BJP is targeting the internal family conflicts within BRS, claiming that they are now “washing dirty linen in public.”

With two strong rivals and deepening internal rifts, political analysts believe KCR’s hopes of a successful comeback in local polls may remain a distant dream.
