Jan Suraaj chief Prashant Kishor has ended all speculation by confirming he will not contest the upcoming Bihar elections, saying it’s for the “greater good.” Two lists of candidates have been released so far, and his name is missing from both.
The 48-year-old poll strategist-turned-politician has set an ambitious target for his party. With Bihar’s 243 assembly seats, Kishor aims for 150 seats, calling anything less a “defeat.” This marks Jan Suraaj’s first electoral contest in the state.
Kishor has chosen professionals and academics, including a mathematician, to represent the party. The idea is to test voter sentiment in the November elections and build a stronger, data-backed strategy for the next assembly polls.
Political observers say Kishor’s choice to stay out of the race could signal a lack of confidence. Having advised several major national parties in the past, he now faces the real test proving Jan Suraaj’s credibility in his home state.
