Scheme Funds Diverted To Contractor Payments

Even after four days since polling concluded, people in Andhra Pradesh are still not receiving welfare scheme benefits.

Before the election, the government made a lot of noise regarding wealth accumulation for welfare scheme benefits disbursal. But after polling, funds are being directed to favored contractors instead of being used for welfare scheme payments.

In the last two days, the government made payments worth Rs. 4000 crores. Of this amount, Rs. 1480 crores were allocated to Aasara scheme payments and Rs. 502 crores to Vidhya Deevena payments, which had been pending for a long time.

Meanwhile, the remaining 2000 crores were paid to contractors. Even in these payments, the government is not following proper procedures, favoring certain contractors.

Chief Secretary Jawahar Reddy, who stated that more than Rs. 14,165 crores need to be paid to welfare scheme beneficiaries, seems uninterested in these disbursements after the polling.

Payments for schemes like YSR Cheyutha, EBC Nestham, YSR Kalyanamasthu, and YSR Shaadi Thofa are still pending.

According to reports, the government had only Rs. 200 crores in cash as of Friday. It is also reported that the Ways and Means Advances amount taken from the Reserve Bank of India has been exhausted.

The government plans to take another loan from the Reserve Bank next week. Around 2000 crores are being taken from the Reserve Bank. This amount will added to the state’s wealth on next Wednesday.

On the other hand, other contractors are disappointed with the government for paying bills only to its favored contractors.

Before the YCP came into power, officials followed a first-come-first-served payment basis for contractors, ensuring no loopholes. However, after the YCP came into power, they started prioritizing payments to contractors of their choice, resulting in troubles for others.
