YSR Congress seems to be rethinking its strategy over the three capitals after outright rejection by the people of Vishakapatnam.
Despite dangling the carrot of Executive Capital, the YSR Congress was crushed to defeat in all the Assembly constituencies of Vishakapatnam and the Parliament.
So the party seems to be rethinking how to deal with this issue.
Leader of the Opposition in the Council, Botsa Satyanarayana dropped a hint to that extent at the Assembly Media Point.
“Our policy at that time was the three capitals. We thought of having the Executive Capital in Vizag, the Judicial Capital in Kurnool, and the Legislative Capital in Amaravati. But since you are asking it again, we will discuss it once again and tell you about our policy going forward,” Botsa said.
In the 2019 elections, TDP bagged a miserable result in Krishna and Guntur districts, the districts that are supposed to be the biggest beneficiaries of Amaravati as the Capital.
Out of the 33 districts in the two districts, TDP managed to win only four.
Nara Lokesh fought his first election and lost from the Mangalagiri Assembly Segment, the constituency that covers the Capital Region.
YSR Congress which came to power in 2019 tried to divide the people over Amaravati in the name of the three capitals and decentralization.
But TDP never went back on its Amaravati as the Capital Policy.
The party protected and helped the farmers who gave their lands to the Capital legally and in all possible ways in those five years.
Even though the YSR Congress’s Policy is Three Capitals, their actual interest is in Vishakapatnam which was supposed to be the Executive Capital.
We have seen Jagan building a big palace in Port City. It is a different story that not a single brick was laid in all three areas to make them the capitals.
But with a negative result in Vishakapatnam, it has gone to the extent of rethinking the Policy.
Probably this indicates how they are not committed to the people of Vishakapatnam and their cause.
The people of Amaravati already have an idea about YSR Congress. For the people of Kurnool, the TDP Government is making swift moves to establish a High Court Bench in Kurnool and that means the YSR Congress lost its credibility in all three areas.
