Is Thalapathy Vijay Playing Foolish Politics?

Thalapathy Vijay TVK political appearance

Thalapathy Vijay‘s political journey is nascent. He is bound to make mistakes. But his temperament is giving unsettling vibes to those who are/ were standing by him since he launched TVK.

The Tamil Nadu elections are just round the corner. The state will go to polls in April or May. Already, Vijay has various issues to deal with. He has been summoned in the Karur stampede incident.

But worse still, his family life is in a mess. Divorce by itself is totally accepted in today’s times and so are second marriages. With changing times, the social norms have changed. But that rule does not apply to politicians.

PM Narendra Modi made sure his ex wife remains out of his political life. Similarly, despite rumours of Rahul Gandhi having a Spanish girlfriend, no one ever got to see her. Then there are N number of cases where politicians have affairs. But all that is a big hush hush.

Vijay being a new-born politician is still unclear about his political goals. There are rumours of the BJP approaching him for an alliance. But that hasn’t happened yet.

Meanwhile, using the opportunity, Vijay’s estranged wife filed for Rs 250 crore divorce. To follow up, she filed a petition to stay in her matrimonial house till the divorce is granted.

But Vijay did the big reveal a tad bit early. He appeared with rumored lover Trisha at a wedding. This has generated a huge tsunami in Tamil film and political fraternities. To add to all this, Trisha has been countering all by sending terse comments on social media.

The TVK chief needs focus. Divorce and relationships can wait. He really needs to get into people. Feel the pulse and take decisions to either fight it out solo or enter an alliance with the BJP.

Well, Vijay surely needs to learn the tricks of being a professional politician. This is not to support Vijay’s relationship issues. That is his private and personal zone. What he does in his private life is not anyone’s business.

But as a politician, Vijay needs to show he can make decisions. He can handle multiple situations at one time. He has to show he will not give into pressure. He has to show he has it in him to gauge people’s mood and decide between going solo or entering an alliance. It’s a “just do it” moment for Vijay. If he slips now, he might end up being another Rajinikanth who quit even before entry or a Kamal Haasan who is happy playing a miniscule role in Tamil Nadu politics. The time has come for Thalapathy to prove himself.
