Theaters Strike: What Happened Behind The Scenes?

The Joint Meeting at the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce resulted in a truce.

It was decided that the Theaters Strike will be put on hold for now and then, a committee comprising of all the three sectors (Exhibitors, Distributors, and Producers) will be appointed at the EC meeting on 30th of this month in Vishakapatnam.

The committee, with no specific timeframe, will deliberate on all the problems and come up with solutions.

A Senior distributor speaking to M9 News sarcastically said, “The committee report will come in three months or three years like a Rajamouli film. It will have no solutions. Everyone will outline their problems and say they will solve the problems of the others if they own problems are solved”.

In the meeting of the Producers earlier this week, the active producers prevailed on the Exhibitors, especially the trio of Dil Raju, Suniel Narang, and Suresh Babu in Nizam.

They threated to give their films to Mythri if the trio continue to push for the Percentage System which will be a loss to the Distributors and the Producers.

The trio yielded that day itself and it was supposed to be a matter of time before the Bandh is called off.

Last night, another unexpected happening has occurred.

AP Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh released a Press Note ordering an inquiry into whether this is a ploy of the ‘Those Four’ to stop Pawan Kalyan’s Hari Hara Veeramallu.

Those who were pushing for the Theater Strike were taken aback by this sudden development.

They were worried about attracting unnecessary ire from the Government.

Everyone is worried as this would escalate into a face-off between the Government and the industry like how it happened during Jagan’s regime.

Nobody was ready to take a risk, and so, everyone backed off.

Today’s joint meeting was a formality, and everyone agreed on the ‘Committee’.

A Pressmeet was arranged after the meeting. Strict instructions were given to the media not to ask any controversial questions.

Film Chamber Secretary Damodar Prasad released a Statement. The office-bearers of the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Film Chambers were present and did not even talk.

They even tried to avoid Hari Hara Veeramallu topic but when media insisted they clarified that it is just a misunderstanding.
