It’s a dream for most parents in India these days to make their kids study at foreign universities. They take loans, break their FDs, and even sell their assets so that they can afford to pay for their child’s education in foreign countries.
To study abroad in English-speaking countries like the US, Indian students have to overcome the hurdle of passing language proficiency tests such as the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). But TOEFL is a tough nut to crack.
Bright students may crack it, but average and below-average students often face a lot of difficulties to pass in TOEFL because of their limited English skills, and hence their dream of studying in a country like the US gets shattered.
In what comes as somewhat relief to students aspiring to study in the US, Educational Testing Services (ETS) recently announced a series of changes in TOEFL to create an optimal experience for those taking it. TOEFL will now take less than two hours to complete instead of three hours.
Upon completion of the test, the candidates will be able to see their official score release date, and they will also receive real-time notification of changes to their score status. The changes will be effective from July 26, 2023.
TOEFL is welcomed by over 10,000 institutions in over 150 countries like the USA, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.
