Bizarre Flight Invasion Indigo Under Fire

Passengers on an IndiGo flight from Lucknow to Delhi recently faced a frustrating experience when swarms of mosquitoes filled the cabin. A video posted by journalist Manisha Pande showed passengers swatting and scratching throughout the flight. She said the crew dismissed complaints, claiming the mosquitoes entered through an open door and there was nothing they could do.

The airline offered lemongrass patches, which passengers said were useless. Pande, who paid over ₹4,000 for her ticket, called the service unacceptable and tagged the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), questioning the lack of pest control at the airport. She also noted that similar complaints have been made in the past.

Many on social media echoed her frustration. “Crazy how people are expected to just suck it up and suffer after paying a good amount,” one person said. Another pointed out that complaints date back to 2022, asking, “So this isn’t a fluke? It’s a recurring issue that’s now just… part of the process?”

Sarcastic suggestions also surfaced. “Next flight, guess we’ll have to board with bats to kill these huge ones! Or better still, Indigo can equip their hostess with the same!” One even claimed there’s a video of a crew member trying to swat mosquitoes mid-flight.

Some went further, linking the issue to broader problems in Indian service culture. “Most of the country aspires mediocrity… most Indians are lazy, think it’s beneath them, or don’t accept feedback,” a user wrote.

IndiGo responded online, saying they were coordinating with airport authorities and noted that mosquitoes can occasionally enter through open doors. DGCA has not yet issued an official statement.
