Following the pan-Indian success of the Dhurandhar franchise, actor Madhavan is returning with his next release GDN directed by Krishnakumar Ramakumar, which is gearing up for a worldwide theatrical release on August 7th.
With only a few days left until the release, actor Madhavan has started promoting the film through interviews. In one such interview, when the host questioned him about the criticism of his previous films specifically that Dhurandhar is being termed a propaganda film and Nambi is portrayed as pro-India.
Madhavan stated that he didn’t know how being an Indian could be wrong and asked whether he should not show himself as an Indian. He claimed that Dhurandhar’s story is set in Pakistan and shows both the good and the bad that happened there, just like in India, adding that he doesn’t understand what the propaganda is supposed to be.
Furthermore, he mentioned that he only stated what Nambi Sir said in real life in Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, asking how he could be honest with the story if he was afraid to portray who Nambi really was.
He also noted that GDN is an atheist and that he has to stay true to the character. He concluded the topic by stating that he is just an actor whose job is to do justice to the role, adding that he wants to highlight all the good things about India and that doing so cannot be a crime. These comments by Madhavan have now gone viral on social media.
