Mahesh Babu‘s birthday was expected to be extra special for fans eagerly waiting for fresh content from SS Rajamouli’s much-awaited globe-trotting adventure Varanasi.
Many fans are at least hoping the makers will repeat what they did for Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ birthday, when a couple of exclusive stills from the film were released.
However, the latest industry buzz suggests they may have to lower their expectations.
According to sources, Varanasi is unlikely to unveil a glimpse or any other video content on Mahesh Babu’s birthday. At best, fans can expect a special birthday poster or a few new stills from the film.
The reason appears to be practical rather than anything else.
During the Baahubali promotions, Rajamouli had revealed that his team never uses temporary music for promotional content. Every teaser, trailer, or glimpse gets its own original background score. More recently, M.M. Keeravaani confirmed that work on Varanasi’s music will begin only in September.
Without the background score ready, Rajamouli is unlikely to rush out a glimpse just to meet a birthday deadline.
That may disappoint fans, but it is also completely in line with Rajamouli’s filmmaking philosophy. He has never believed in releasing promotional material simply to satisfy expectations. If a teaser or glimpse is not ready, he is willing to wait until it meets his standards.
Meanwhile, Mahesh Babu has reportedly completed his portions for the current shooting schedule and left on a family vacation to celebrate his birthday. The shoot will continue in Hyderabad with the remaining cast and crew during his brief break.
For now, a birthday poster appears almost certain, but a video glimpse looks highly unlikely. It may test the patience of Mahesh fans, but Rajamouli’s track record suggests he would rather disappoint fans for a few days than compromise on the quality of the film’s first major promotional material.
