Dhanush Raj, an actor and media personality from the Kannada film industry, has filed a police complaint against his wife Ashrita at the Girinagar Police Station in Bengaluru. The case involves allegations of physical and verbal abuse, as stated in official records.
The actor, known for the film Shivaji Surathkal, lodged the FIR on January 7, 2026. He accused Ashrita of assault, harassment, and issuing threats to his life during repeated domestic disputes.
Dhanush Raj further claimed that Ashrita threatened to send goons after him. He also alleged that she spoke about injuring herself by hitting a bathroom glass panel to frame him in a suicide related case.
According to media reports, the conflict reportedly began after Dhanush questioned Ashrita about travelling abroad without informing him properly. The argument escalated and later resulted in formal complaints being filed by both sides.
Ashrita, who married Dhanush on March 2, 2025, in Uttarhalli, Bengaluru, filed a counter complaint at the same police station. She accused the actor of demanding additional dowry even after marriage.
She also alleged physical assault, emotional abuse, verbal humiliation, and infidelity. Reports suggest tensions increased after Dhanush travelled to Ahmedabad for work in November 2025 and stopped responding to her calls and messages.
Police have confirmed that complaints from both parties have been registered and investigations are ongoing. No arrests have been made so far, and officials are examining evidence submitted by both sides.
The incident has also triggered confusion on social media. Several users mistook the actor for Tamil star Dhanush, prompting others to clarify the difference and address the mix up before speculation spreads further.
