Hyderabad Police Warn of New AI Scam

Hyderabad police scam alert

Hyderabad police have issued a warning about a new AI based biometric scam targeting people in public places. Fraudsters are reportedly stealing face and voice data from unsuspecting citizens. Police have advised people not to hand over their phones to strangers.

In this scam, a stranger may approach someone in a mall, metro station or market seeking help. They often claim they do not know how to operate their phone. When a person agrees to assist, the device may already be on video recording or live call.

Within a few seconds, the scammer can capture the helper’s face and voice. This biometric information can later be used for fraudulent activities. Authorities say such data can be misused for financial scams or identity theft.

Bharat is widely known for its helpful and welcoming culture. People generally assist strangers and visitors without hesitation. However, fraudsters are now exploiting this goodwill for personal gain.

In countries such as Korea, Japan and Germany, people usually maintain distance from strangers in public spaces. Casual interactions are limited unless necessary. What once seemed unusual may now highlight the importance of being cautious in public places.
