IND vs NZ: India Fights Stable NZ Batting

IND vs NZ Match

The pitch, from the very beginning, looked to have no life for the New Zealand bowlers. However, as the Indians started to bowl, it seemed as alive as ever. The ball started to move and kissed the edges of New Zealand batsmen.

India piled up a staggering total of 397 runs, and what New Zealand needed was a miracle and a steady partnership. But fate had other plans as New Zealand drifted further and further away from repeating their 2019 deed.

In the first few overs, New Zealand made it look easier as they hit a couple of fours with ease. However, it was one partnership that performed, and it’s not the New Zealand batting line-up. Though Siraj and Bumrah were doing well on both ends, Shami turned up.

Shami and Rahul decided to control the NZ narrative as they paired up to gain a couple of wickets. Shami, on his very first ball, showed the pavilion’s way to Devon Conway as his outswinger kissed the edge of Conway’s bat.

He wanted to continue his fiery streak against New Zealand as he struck his second of the match in his second over. The discovery of the tournament, Rachin Ravindra, the other half of the opening pair, was dismissed as the ball just edged his bat, and Rahul had no intention to let it go.

After the two knocks, New Zealand got a hold of the match. Though the run rate saw a rise, NZ started to build a partnership between Williamson and Mitchell.

New Zealand also crossed the 100-run mark in the 16th over with a perfect boundary. Williamson showed maturity, and Mitchell partnered him in letting the runs flow. Though NZ didn’t have a fiery start like India’s, they still managed to build consistency.

They have been respecting the good balls, and in terms of the bad deliveries, both batsmen showed them the way to the boundary. Mitchell looked really good as he opened his arms more often, and Williamson managed to be the brick wall of the innings.

Mitchell comfortably reached his half-century as the pair built a 100-run partnership. After the 25th over, New Zealand stands at a solid score of 161, having lost two wickets. Williamson managed to score 49 as Mitchell keeps batting at 62.
