Nike is unquestionably one of the world’s largest and most popular shoe brands. However, the international shoemaker is under criticism for a new design flaw. One of Nike’s ISPA Mindbody Men’s shoe styles is being mocked for its overly worn-out appearance. The price of these shoes was Rs 16,995.
The images of the highly sought-after trainers have subsequently become popular on social media. One netizen called the sneaker “Foot Fungus,” while another claimed it looked like “wet cardboard wrapped in newspaper.”
According to Nike’s website, ISPA stands for “improvise. scavenge, protect, and adapt,” and all ISPA items are designed to meet the “discreet needs of the city dweller.”
This is not the first time that major manufacturers have been chastised for pricey shoes that resemble a worn-out look. Gucci was chastised in February 2019 for releasing a pair of filthy-looking footwear.
The £615 (INR 57,078) trainers were described as “a pastiche of different influences that span across decades” and “materials inspired by vintage sportswear.”
Previously, in September 2018, a pair of Golden Goose shoes were condemned for their torn design, which included duct tape over the shoe’s toes. These sneakers cost $530 (about Rs. 38,000). Critics said that the design “mocked poverty.”
What's a better nickname for the Nike ISPA Mindbody?
