Meerut Dog Dispute Turns Violent

A neighborhood dispute in Meerut’s Pallavpuram S Pocket took a serious turn after a clash between two influential families over a pet dog led to legal action and public protest.

The incident began when Aarti Kadyan objected to her neighbor, Tulika Mishra, walking a banned breed of dog outside her home. A verbal spat between the two quickly escalated. Later, Tulika’s son, Vedant Mishra, reportedly arrived with several others, leading to a violent altercation.

Aarti alleged that Tulika and her daughter assaulted her first, and when her husband, Dr. Vaibhav Rana, stepped out to help, he too was attacked with a sharp weapon.

Based on her complaint, police registered a case against Tulika’s family. However, a day later, the other party also filed a counter-complaint. Police then booked Aarti’s side as well, prompting public outrage.

On Sunday, hundreds of local residents and community leaders gathered at the Pallavpuram police station to protest. They accused the police of filing cases against the original complainants to pressure them into a settlement.

Protesters also raised a serious concern over the alleged misuse of the SC/ST Act in the matter, claiming it was being used to settle personal scores over trivial issues like dog-related disputes.
