Swing King Wants No Favour: Will BCCI Give Him a Chance?

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has made it clear that he is ready if India come calling for the 2027 ODI World Cup, but the veteran pacer knows the final decision is not in his hands.

He played a key role in Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s back to back IPL titles and picked up 28 wickets in IPL 2026.

Asked about a possible India return for the 2027 World Cup, Bhuvneshwar said there was no reason for him to turn down the opportunity.

Why would I say no if I get a call? Absolutely ready, Bhuvneshwar told Aaj Tak. Despite the 35 year old made it clear that he is not playing domestic cricket only to force his way back into the Indian team.

My job is to play cricket and that is why I have come here to play in the UP T20 league. I didn’t come here with the intention of moving to another place or reaching another level, he said.

Bhuvneshwar also left the decision on his readiness to the selectors. How prepared I am is not for me to decide; the rest is the selectors’ call he added.

Bhuvi has played 121 ODIs for India and taken 141 wickets at an economy rate of 5.08.

With India’s fast bowling options facing injuries and workload issues, his experience could become an option before the 2027 World Cup.

For now, Bhuvneshwar is focused on playing as much cricket as possible. Whether that is enough to bring him back into India’s plans will be decided by the selectors.
