Chennai Super Kings have filed a complaint with the Board of Control for Cricket in India after an incident during their match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The match took place on April 5 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
The complaint is related to a song played by the stadium DJ. The track included the line “Dosa, idli, sambar, chutney,” which is commonly used in memes. The timing of the song raised concerns.
Chennai Super Kings felt that playing the track at that moment was not appropriate. The franchise believes it was unnecessary and not in good taste. This led them to raise the issue with the board.
An IPL official confirmed that the complaint has been received. The matter is currently under review. The league will decide if any action is needed after checking all details.
CSK managing director Kasi Viswanathan said DJs are meant to support the home team. However, he added that there should be clear limits. He also mentioned that certain comments were made on the mic after CSK players got out.
The franchise stated that match day music and announcements should focus on the game. They should not be used to take digs at the opposition. CSK has requested the board to review both the song and the comments.
The song has been linked to the CSK and Royal Challengers Bengaluru rivalry before. Last year, Jitesh Sharma was seen singing it in a video shared by RCB. This had triggered reactions from CSK fans.
Following that incident, CSK had internally advised avoiding such references. The rivalry between the two teams has grown more intense in recent seasons. Royal Challengers Bengaluru have also recorded better results since 2024.
After the latest match, videos of fan clashes surfaced on social media. These clips showed how heated the situation has become. The atmosphere around this rivalry continues to stay tense.
With this complaint, Chennai Super Kings have made their position clear. They are seeking better control over match day content and conduct.
