CSK vs KKR IPL 2026 match action

Chennai Super Kings returned to form with a solid all round performance, defeating Kolkata Knight Riders by 32 runs in the 22nd match of IPL 2026 at Chepauk.

KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and chose to bowl first. CSK lost Ruturaj Gaikwad early, but Sanju Samson and Ayush Mhatre stabilized the innings.

Dewald Brevis then provided momentum with a quick innings, helping CSK reach a strong total of 192/5 in 20 overs.

Chasing 193, KKR had a poor start and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. What hurt them more was the lack of intent in the powerplay, where no batter looked to dominate.

Interestingly, CSK dropped multiple catches during the innings, giving KKR enough chances to get back into the game. Despite, KKR failed to capitalize on those opportunities. The batting unit looked exposed under pressure.

Rovman Powell and Ramandeep Singh showed some fight towards the end, but the damage had already been done as KKR fell short by 32 runs.

For Kolkata Knight Riders, this loss will raise serious concerns. Even after getting chances, the team failed to respond, especially in the powerplay where intent was missing.

If KKR want to stay alive in the IPL 2026, they will need to fix their batting approach quickly. Otherwise, performances like this could push them further down the table.
