Mumbai Indians opted to bat first after winning the toss but struggled to build momentum. They managed 159 for 7 in 20 overs. Wickets fell at regular intervals, which stopped any chance of a big total.

Chennai Super Kings chased the target with ease in 18.1 overs and lost only two wickets. Ruturaj Gaikwad led from the front with an unbeaten 67 and controlled the innings calmly. His knock ensured there was no pressure during the chase.
Urvil Patel added 24 runs and provided good support in the middle overs. Kartik Sharma played a key role with an unbeaten 54 off 40 balls. His innings helped CSK finish the match without any late drama.
Mumbai Indians struggled badly in the field and dropped key chances. These mistakes proved costly as CSK capitalised on every opportunity. Poor fielding and lack of discipline made the chase easier for Chennai.
Jasprit Bumrah and Allah Ghazanfar picked up one wicket each but could not create pressure. CSK bowlers performed well earlier, with Anshul Kamboj taking three wickets. Noor Ahmad, Ramakrishna Ghosh, and Jamie Overton also contributed with crucial breakthroughs.
This defeat has pushed Mumbai Indians closer to elimination. They remain in ninth place with just two wins from nine matches. Their playoff chances now look very slim with limited matches remaining.
Hardik Pandya’s captaincy has also come under scrutiny this season. Mumbai have struggled in all departments and failed to maintain consistency. Batting, bowling, and fielding issues have affected their overall performance.
Chennai Super Kings stay in contention with this important win. They will face Delhi Capitals next at Arun Jaitley Stadium. Mumbai Indians will look to bounce back against Lucknow Super Giants at Wankhede Stadium.
