Delhi Capitals continued their strong run in IPL 2026 with an impressive win over Mumbai Indians at Arun Jaitley Stadium. The five time champions were outplayed as DC secured back to back victories. Axar Patel’s side has now climbed to the top of the points table.
Delhi Capitals have looked in excellent form this season. After defeating Lucknow Super Giants in their opening match, they followed it up with another strong performance. Two wins against quality teams highlight their growing dominance in the tournament.
Sameer Rizvi once again proved to be the key player. Coming in as an impact player, he scored a match winning 90 off 51 balls. His innings included seven fours and seven sixes, completely shifting the momentum in DC’s favour.
Chasing 163, DC had a poor start and lost two wickets for just seven runs. Rizvi then stepped in and stabilised the innings. He built a crucial 78 run partnership in 39 balls with David Miller, putting the chase firmly on track.
Before that, Rizvi also added 66 runs with Tendu Nissanka, who scored 44. These partnerships helped DC recover from early trouble. Miller remained unbeaten on 21 as DC chased down the target comfortably in 18.1 overs.
Earlier, Mumbai Indians posted 162 for 6 in their 20 overs. Stand in captain Suryakumar Yadav led the innings with a steady 51 off 36 balls. Rohit Sharma scored 35, while Naman Dhir added 28, but partnerships were limited.
The only major stand for Mumbai Indians came between Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav. They added 53 runs for the third wicket. Despite this effort, the team could not build enough momentum to post a bigger total.
For Delhi Capitals, Mukesh Kumar delivered a strong bowling performance. He picked up two key wickets and controlled the scoring. His contribution played an important role in restricting Mumbai Indians to a manageable total.
Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel won the toss and chose to bowl first. The team continued with the same playing XI. Mumbai Indians made several changes, with Hardik Pandya missing the match due to illness.
Suryakumar Yadav led the side in his absence. Deepak Chahar replaced him, while Corbin Bosch and Mitchell Santner came in for Trent Boult and Allah Ghazanfar. These changes did not help Mumbai Indians in this match.
Both teams had entered the match after winning their opening games. Delhi Capitals had beaten Lucknow Super Giants, while Mumbai Indians had defeated Kolkata Knight Riders. Expectations were high from both sides going into this clash.
However, Delhi Capitals dominated once again and secured a convincing win. With two victories in two matches, they have sent a strong message. DC are not just off to a good start but are emerging as a serious contender in IPL 2026.
