MI Captaincy Questioned: Rohit Injury Scare Hits

Hardik Pandya leading Mumbai Indians

Hardik Pandya is facing criticism as captain of Mumbai Indians after a poor start to Indian Premier League 2026. The team has lost three of its first four matches. Attention is now on his on field decisions.

Former India batter Sadagoppan Ramesh has questioned Hardik’s captaincy. He stated that Hardik is a top player but has not delivered as a leader. His remarks have added to the ongoing debate around the team’s performance.

Ramesh referred to the match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He questioned the use of Jasprit Bumrah in the powerplay. Bumrah bowled two early overs and was then kept out for a long stretch, leaving a gap in the attack.

He also criticised the bowling strategy at Wankhede Stadium. Using spin from both ends against Rajat Patidar raised concerns. The decision to bring in Mayank Markande in that phase was also questioned.

Ramesh further pointed to confusion in decision making on the field. Suryakumar Yadav appeared surprised by one call. Rohit Sharma also seemed unconvinced with certain decisions.

There are also concerns about Rohit Sharma’s fitness. He has undergone scans for a suspected injury. His availability for the next match against Punjab Kings remains uncertain.

With poor results and injury concerns, pressure is building on Mumbai Indians. The team will need quick improvements to stay competitive this season.
