T20 Reputation Gone? Can Ind Afford to Take ZIM Lightly?

India vs Zimbabwe first T20I preview

India’s T20I team is under pressure. After losing back to back T20I series against Ireland and England, the focus now shifts to Zimbabwe.

The three match series starts on July 23, but one question is already making headlines. Can India afford to take Zimbabwe lightly?

Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza does not think this will be a one sided series. Speaking before the series, Raza said both teams have an equal chance of winning.

He added that Zimbabwe have been playing good cricket and are improving with every series. He also said both India and Zimbabwe are going through a transition, which makes the contest even more open.

India also have their own problems to solve. Shreyas Iyer is still looking for his first T20I series win as captain.

India lost the series against Ireland and England under his leadership. Will this tour finally change things, or will the pressure increase further?

On paper, India have the stronger squad. But recent results show that reputation alone is not enough.

India’s squad: Shreyas Iyer (captain), Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Ishan Kishan, Shivam Dube, Suryansh Shedge, Rinku Singh, Harsh Dubey, Varun Chakravarthy, Prince Yadav, Ashok Sharma, Yash Thakur, Mayank Yadav and Prabhsimran Singh.

HEAD TO HEAD IN T20Is:
Matches: 14
India won: 11
Zimbabwe won: 3

The first T20I will be played on July 23 at the Harare Sports Club. India may start as favourites, but Raza’s message is clear. Will Team India answer the challenge on the field, or is another surprise waiting?
