Mumbai Indians were once the most decorated team in the IPL after having won the title 5 times. But since the decision to replace Rohit Sharma with Hardik Pandya as the captain was taken, things have been going south.
After a horrendous run in the 2024 IPL season with less than a 25% win record, Mumbai could quickly become the most affected team ahead of the auction for the 2025 season.

It is all starting with the imminent departure of Rohit Sharma who has been replaced as the captain. While it is all but confirmed that Rohit will be leaving Mumbai, there is suspense on the team that he is joining.
Then there is the captaincy offer that KKR made to Surya Kumar Yadav which could attract him towards the Kolkata side. If he also leaves, the Mumbai’s batting order will be severely depleted.

Lastly, there is disgruntled Bumrah who feels cheated for not getting the captaincy post after Rohit Sharma. Though he is not likely to leave Mumbai, the mindset could play a role here and this is not what Mumbai wants.
