In a highly exciting update on the retaining regulations for the forthcoming season of IPL, it is being reported that only 5 retentions will be permitted per team.
This has come as a shock to CSK fans who have been hoping that six retentions would be permitted which would lead to them keeping ahold of Dhoni.
CSK is currently in the kind of spot that they can’t keep Dhoni in top 5 retention slots due to his age factor and team composition tactics. At the same time, they can’t let go of the senior star.
Meanwhile, a few Dhoni and CSK fans have been speaking on social media about the retention process and saying IPL management is conspiring against CSK retaining Dhoni by permitting only 5 retentions. They’re saying the decision to allow only 5 retentions is a scheme to get Dhoni away from CSK.
But factually speaking, this is beyond senseless talk from CSK fans. If the franchise really wishes to keep ahold of him, they must have him in the top 5 slots. Needless to say, the IPL management, as a whole doesn’t revolve around any particular team.
If at all retentions aren’t done in an impartial manner, then no one would’ve even able to touch the Golden Mumbai Indians which had Rohit, Bumrah, Boult, Hardik, Pollard, Krunal Pandya, Surya Kumar Yadav, and others. This in itself invalidates CSK fans argument.
