IPL Launching New Careers: No Talent Needed?

IPL Launching New Careers

The Indian Premier League is going on in full swing, with fans pouring in to watch their favourite teams give their best performances against their rivals.

While the tournament may not be going as expected for the Chennai Super Kings, one of its fans is having the time of her life.

Aaryapriya Bhuyan went viral after her frustrated gesture was captured on Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s wicket during CSK’s last match against the Rajasthan Royals.

Things became so big that her Instagram account, with just 800 followers, skyrocketed to almost 150k, still rising after the whole ordeal.

This led to a massive debate online, regarding the role of the cameraman in making social media careers of small-time influencers.

Now, it has been turned into a trend, where influencers are dressing up and going to matches, doing over-the-top gestures to capture the cameraman’s attention and boost their social media careers.

Incidents like this are bad for the creator economy, because if everyone starts becoming big due to one-time reactions, then it would be a huge injustice to the actual content creators who put hours of work and sweat into actually writing scripts and designing their content.

Instead of just blindly following someone because of a trend, the public should understand the value of their follow, using it wisely on those who actually put the effort in.
