Boom Boom Is Back: Can Team India Revive WTC Hopes?

India have received a big boost ahead of the Sri Lanka Test series. Jasprit Bumrah has cleared his fitness tests at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence and is expected to play both Tests.

The big question now is: can India finally put their injury worries behind them?

Bumrah picked up an injury during the ODI series against England and missed the final match. That immediately raised doubts over his availability for the Sri Lanka tour.

His return comes at the right time. India begin the two Test series in Galle on August 15, with the second Test starting in Colombo on August 23.

India need a good result in Sri Lanka to stay in the World Test Championship race, making Bumrah’s return even more important.

Whenever India have needed wickets in overseas Tests, Bumrah has been the bowler they have trusted the most.

Even with Bumrah back, India’s job will not be easy. His fitness gives India a major boost, but they will also have to manage his workload carefully throughout the series.

Can Bumrah stay fit for both Tests and help India make the perfect start to a must-win series, or will workload once again become India’s biggest concern?
