DC Out of Playoff Race? KKR’s Brutal Comeback!

Finn Allen century vs Delhi Capitals

The 51st match of the 2026 edition of the Indian Premier League was played between Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders at Arun Jaitley Stadium. KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and chose to bowl first.

Delhi Capitals once again struggled badly with the bat and could manage only 142 runs in their innings. Pathum Nissanka was the only batter who looked comfortable, scoring a quick 50 off just 29 balls with attacking intent from the beginning.

KL Rahul added 23 runs, but the rest of the batting lineup failed to build momentum. Players like Nitish Rana, Sameer Rizvi, and Tristan Stubbs could not make any meaningful contribution as the innings collapsed under pressure.

Captain Axar Patel also struggled to accelerate, scoring only 11 runs from 22 deliveries. Delhi’s innings lacked attacking intent for most of the game, and the middle order failed to put pressure back on the opposition bowlers.

Ashutosh Sharma attempted to rescue the innings with a fighting knock of 39 runs from 28 balls. His effort helped Delhi cross the 140-run mark, but the total still looked below par on a batting-friendly surface.

In reply, Kolkata Knight Riders produced a comfortable run chase despite losing early wickets. Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi departed cheaply, but Finn Allen completely dominated the Delhi bowling attack.

Finn Allen smashed a sensational century, scoring 100 runs off just 47 balls. He attacked from the powerplay itself and never allowed the bowlers to settle. Cameron Green supported him well with 33 runs as KKR chased down the target comfortably by eight wickets.

This victory marked Kolkata’s fourth consecutive win of the season. The team now has nine points from 10 matches and remains in seventh place on the points table. However, KKR’s playoff hopes are still alive if they manage to win their remaining league matches.
