LSG Playoff Race Over? Costly Stars, Zero Impact

LSG loss IPL 2026 playoff chances

In the 32nd match of the IPl 2026, Rajasthan Royals defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 40 runs. This is the fourth straight loss for Rishabh Pant’s team this season.

Chasing 160, Lucknow Super Giants were all out for 119 in 18 overs. Mitchell Marsh scored 55 runs, but no other batter could support him.

LSG had a very poor start. Ayush Badoni got run out for 0. Captain Rishabh Pant was out for 0, and Aiden Markram also failed to score. The team was 11 for 3 in the first three overs, and after that they never recovered.

Nicholas Pooran and Marsh tried to build a partnership, but Pooran got out for 22 and could not take the game deep. After Marsh was dismissed, the rest of the batting collapsed quickly.

The main problem for LSG right now is their big players are not performing as expected. Players like Rishabh Pant, Nicholas Pooran are high profile and high budget players, but the team has not been able to get results from them.

Rishabh Pant is having a poor season so far. For a player bought at a very high price, the performance is not matching expectations.

Earlier, Rajasthan Royals scored 159/6 in 20 overs. Ravindra Jadeja made 43 not out, while Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag scored 22 and 20 runs respectively.

With the ball, Jofra Archer took 3 wickets and Nandre Burger and Brijesh Sharma took 2 wickets each.

Lucknow Super Giants now have four losses in a row. They need to fix their batting and get performances from their key players, otherwise it will be difficult for them to stay in the playoff race.
