One of the new reinforcements in the recent edition of the IPL is the impact player rule which let teams bring in one player in their batting or bowling innings, based on the match situation.

This essentially meant that teams could play with increased freedom in both batting and bowling innings as they have the luxury of bringing in a new player into the playing XI based on the match situation.

However, this new rule was lambasted by the likes of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli who said the dynamics of the game are completely changing with this unprecedented rule.

The complaint is that the XI player game play is being dismantled by this impact player rule which is letting particular teams get extra juice from the squad while batting and bowling. This is against the usual gameplay and the veterans of the sport didn’t look appeased by the same.
