Hardik Pandya Mumbai Indians IPL 2025

IPL 2025 is set to begin soon but with bad news for fans of Mumbai Indians. Hardik Pandya, the captain of the team, will have to miss out on his first match against Chennai Super Kings on 23rd March, owing to the team’s repeated offences in IPL 2024.

The skipper was fined a sum of Rs.30 Lakhs while having to skip out his next IPL game due to the slow over rates of the team.

Hardik was bestowed with this punishment after MI committed three slow over-rate offences back in 2024.

As the team had no more games left in that season, the punishment was carried forward to the next season of the IPL.

Apart from the captain, other players, including the impact player, had to receive penalties of either Rs.12 Lakhs or half their match fees, whichever was lower.

In a press release, the BCCI said, “As it was his team’s third offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Pandya was fined INR 30 lakhs and banned from playing the team’s next match…

…The rest of the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, were each individually fined either INR 12 lakhs or 50 percent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser.”




With the tournament set to begin soon, it will be interesting to see which team comes forward to dominate the game in 2025.
