It could perhaps be argued that the captain of India Rohit Sharma has soft retired from the test format. The fact that he had to step down from the fifth test match against Australia, clearly indicates the same.

However, as it appears, it isn’t only Rohit Sharma, who must be retiring. Considering the disastrous performance in this series and also in recent weeks, another senior player in the team Virat Kohli must also be facing the axe soon.

It has been a long long time since Kohli returned to his best and the wait for the same has been excruciatingly long. Now that team India could somehow offload underperforming Rohit Sharma. The responsibility is now on the management to assess the situation with Virat Kohli.

There is no debating the fact that Rohit and Virat have been two of the greatest players in the history of Indian cricket. However, their recent performances have been anything, but satisfactory, and on top of that, they have become a baggage to the team.
