Team India started off on a rather shaky note in the ongoing BGT test series against Australia. The first batting innings in the first test was a murky won as Indi got bundled out for 150.
Then came a fiery and resilient spell from stand-in captain Jaspirt Bumrah that kept India in the hunt by restricting Austalia to 104.
Now, in the aftermath of this spirited bowling performance from India, led by Bumrah, there is increased talk that it is perhaps the best option to announced Bumrah as the full-length captain of the side in the place of Rohit Sharma.
While Rohit Sharma is also at the peak of his prowess at the fag end of his career, it is time for India to look beyond this horizon.
Bumrah is arguably the greatest bowler that India has produced and his spirit on the field is next to none. If so, then there is no better option than him to lead India in the test side.
With the Rohit-Kohli era all but drawing to a close in a year or two, the brilliance of Bumrah is to be recognized and rightly so. He is single-handedly leading the side in tough situations and certainly deserves this raise.
