Sunrisers Hyderabad got their first win of the season with a 65 run victory over Kolkata Knight Riders. KKR were all out for 161 while chasing 227.
SRH started well with Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head adding 82 runs in 34 balls. Abhishek scored 48 and Head made 46. Heinrich Klaasen then scored 52 to take the team to 226.
Despite the big win, SRH’s fielding was not up to the mark. They dropped chances and gave away extra runs in the field, which could have cost them if KKR had built partnerships. This is something the team will need to improve.
KKR also started fast. Finn Allen made 28 runs in just 7 balls but got out early. Ajinkya Rahane scored only 8.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi played well and made 52 off 29 balls. Rinku Singh scored 35, but other batters could not help much.
KKR were 120/3 in 10.5 overs and the chase looked possible. But Raghuvanshi got run out at the end of the 11th over. After that, KKR lost 7 wickets for 41 runs and the team was all out for 161.
There are clear problems in the KKR batting. The communication between batters is poor, leading to confusion and run out chances.
There are also concerns around consistency. Cameron Green, bought for a big price, failed again and managed just 2 runs.
The middle order as a whole looks unsettled and unreliable at the moment.
Losing at home will hurt even more.
Eden Gardens is expected to be a strong ground for KKR, but they could not make use of that advantage. For any team, such a defeat at home is not acceptable.
SRH will be happy with the win, but their fielding needs improvement. KKR, on the other hand, need to fix their batting issues quickly.
