Team India Facing Another Disaster Opener Situation

The opening batting slot for India has been a tough nut to crack for many years now since the combination of Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma broke apart. The situation is particularly bland now with absolutely shambolic situation at the top.

Firstly, the combination of Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma does not look fitting enough. Abhishek is a natural strike player and has audacity up top.

But on the other hand, Sanju Samson is not a natural aggressor. Due to the demand of the team, he is just trying to be a little bit too aggressive, which is not designated gameplay.

This compulsion to deliver aggressive Cricket is taking a toll on Sanju and he has been extremely inconsistent in recent times. He had a disaster first for matches against England in the ongoing series.

It is only Abhishek who has been consistently firing at the top of the order and giving us positive starts. The consistent failures of Sanju are being complimented by the utter failure of Captain Surya Kumar Yadav as well.

As a whole, the top order of India is looking very weak and inconsistent. If we take out Tilak Varma from the equation, there is literally no stability in the top five.

Top teams like Australia and South Africa can easily make a mess of the Indian batting order if they do not sort things out at the earliest. Going into tournaments with this squad is catastrophic to say the least.

The most important thing here is that India needs to find a consistent opener at the top of the evenings along with Abhishek Sharma. The likes of Shubman Gill and Yashaswi Jaiswal are good options here.
