While Hardik Pandya was seen as a designated successor to Rohit, things have changed since Gautam Gambhir took the reins.
Shubhman Gill seems to be the new preferred choice, with him also becoming the vice-captain of the ODI side.

KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah, and Shreyas Iyer also seem to be on the minds of the public, although it’s not known if the management is considering them for this role.
The public seems to be rallying mostly behind Hardik Pandya, demanding a valid reason from the BCCI for his being sidelined from the captaincy side of things.
It will be interesting to see whether Pandya gets a chance to lead the Indian team in the future or whether he becomes yet another victim of brutal internal politics.
