RCB fast bowler Yash Dayal is facing serious legal trouble. On Tuesday, the Rajasthan High Court refused to grant him anticipatory bail in a rape case involving a minor. The court noted that the girl was underage at the time of the alleged incident and said it would not interfere at this stage. The next hearing is scheduled for August 22.
According to police reports, the case dates back two years. The girl, who is now 19 years old, said she met Dayal when she was 17. She claims he promised to support her cricket career but instead allegedly assaulted her. One of the incidents reportedly took place in a hotel in Jaipur during this year’s IPL season while Dayal was playing in the city.
Since the girl was a minor when the first alleged assault occurred, the police have booked Dayal under Section 376 of the IPC and various provisions of the POCSO Act, which is meant to protect children from sexual offences. This has made the legal situation more complex and serious for the cricketer.
Yash Dayal has strongly denied all allegations. His lawyer described the case as part of an extortion attempt and mentioned that a similar FIR had already been filed in Ghaziabad. That case was stayed by the Allahabad High Court. He argued that the Jaipur FIR was filed just days after the one in Ghaziabad, raising doubts about its intent.
Despite this, the Rajasthan High Court rejected his plea for anticipatory bail. The judge said that since the complainant was a minor at the time of the alleged crime, it would not be appropriate to grant bail without reviewing all details. The police have been directed to submit their case file by August 22.
Yash Dayal, who plays for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL and is known for his fast bowling, now finds himself battling a major legal challenge that could have significant implications on his career and public image.
