The first single from Dhanush‘s anticipated film OM, composed by Sai Abhyankkar and titled Alaakaa Loova, was released recently as Dhanush’s birthday special and is going viral on social media recieving mixed reviews from both audiences and critics alike.
Since its announcement, OM has carried huge expectations among the audience, as it is director Rajkumar Periyasamy’s immediate next film after the blockbuster success of Amaran.
At the same time, because Sai Abhyankkar is a recent sensation and has confirmed in many interviews that he is a fanboy of Dhanush, Dhanush fans have huge expectations for the OM album, with many believing that Sai Abhyankkar will deliver a solid album for him.
However, after hearing the first single, many listeners are suggesting that although the song has a good vibe and unique lyrics, it feels like a mediocre kuthu song. They suggest that Sai Abhyankkar is still carrying a hangover from the Karuppu album and that the beats of Alaakaa Loova are almost similar to Karuppu’s God Mode song.
Meanwhile, despite the mixed reviews for the song itself, the glimpse of Dhanush’s dance in the lyrical video has highly satisfied his fans, who have already started posting fan edits of the actor.
Because Dhanush has mostly acted in content-oriented, rooted films over the last few years that didn’t feature any solid dance numbers, his fans have been longing for a proper dance track from him. Hence, the Alaakaa Loova song has ended up as a treat for Dhanush fans with its stunning dance glimpse, even if it resulted in disappointment for listeners as a standalone track.
Ultimately, with the mixed responses from the audience, it remains to be seen whether Sai Abhyankkar will match expectations with the OM’s upcoming singles.
